Help with our Worship Service

If you can help with any of the following, contact Kaye Oswald at 440-988-4965 or admin.ofc@stpetersamherst.org for more information.

  • Worship Leaders

  • Ushers

A church usher is a person who helps ensure a smoothly running church service and who ministers to people in a variety of practical ways. Ushers help make everyone’s church experience a positive one.  Some of your duties:

  • Arrive at 9:30
  • Greet arrivals and give them a bulletin
  • Check on the comfort of members during worship
  • Collect the Offering
  • Close the Sanctuary after worship

Please take a moment after worship to sign up (Sign up sheet is in the office lobby).  An experienced Usher will always serve with you, to teach and assist you as you serve.

  • Altar Flowers

  • Greeters

Do you know that a warm and friendly greeting can be the first step of receiving new members at St. Peter’s? It’s true!

We have three entrances into our Sanctuary: Elevator Entrance, the stone-steps (front) entrance, and the Walker Lobby (main) entrance. And we need a GREETER at each of these entrances. It’s so easy! On your Sunday, arrive by 9:45 and go to your selected entrance and be prepared to shake hands, offer a friendly smile, and a warm welcome to worship.

Easy-peasy.

We need you. YOU make a difference. Please join in this ministry of welcoming!

Vision

Vision

Caring for us, caring for others, and praising God: with all ones heart, mind, soul and strength, in every way, everywhere.

Purpose

Purpose

The avowed purpose of this church shall be to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the Sacraments: to realize Christian fellowship and unity within this church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward mankind; and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace.

Mission

Mission

To focus our ministries on those who we can directly impact; our congregation, our neighborhood, our nation, and our world. Our church will do this through caring; by uplifting and offering spiritual support to those who are struggling in their life’s journey. Through spirituality; to behave in a Christ-like way; by offering our time, talents, and treasures. We will put our faith into action by honoring, respecting, and celebrating the principles of scripture, our church’s rich history and purpose, and the identity of the United Church of Christ.

The hardest part about trusting someone is that you have to be vulnerable. You must believe that the other person won’t turn against you, let you down or abandon you. The greatest comfort about trusting God is, that He is not a person. He doesn’t lie to us or forgets about us. His promises are just as true today as they were in the past. We can trust God completely.
